Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Minnie's Masquerade Review

COME JOIN MINNIE, MICKEY AND PALS IN AN ADVENTURE THAT CELEBRATES THEMES OF FRIENDSHIP, TEAMWORK, SHARING, PROBLEM SOLVING AND DRESSING-UP

Just In Time For Valentine’s Day, Disney’s New Preschool DVD Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Minnie's Masquerade

Debuts February 8th, 2011

BURBANK, Calif., January 10, 2011 – Parents and their preschoolers are invited to join in the ultimate masquerade party with Minnie, Mickey and pals in a fun-filled collection of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse latest episodes that celebrate themes of friendship, teamwork, sharing and problem solving. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Minnie’s Masquerade is the perfect gift to dress-up your Valentine’s Day, available on Disney DVD February 8 from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment.

This latest release features four playful Minnie-themed adventures previously seen on the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse TV show, a never-before-seen episode, and a free paper mask with festive embellishments that kids can personalize. And as a special option for consumers, Disney has packaged a version of the DVD to include the exclusive Mickey Mote – a child-friendly handheld remote control, shaped like Mickey ears, that takes children’s viewing experience to a whole new level of play. The DVD + Mickey Mote

Play Set is the ultimate value for moms and equally fun and engaging for kids! The Mickey Mote uses infrared wireless technology and may not be compatible with all devices.

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Minnie’s Masquerade starring Disney’s Fab Five -- Minnie, Mickey, Donald, Goofy and Daisy – takes viewers on an all new adventure as they dress-up in their favorite costumes for Minnie’s Masquerade Ball. In this episode, Minnie needs some help getting everything ready for her party including making royal crowns for their costumes, searching for Sir Goofalot’s lost shoe, stringing up paper lanterns and much, much more. At the ball, Professor Von Drake hosts the great Clubhouse Costume Show and gives out prize ribbons to all the friends who have dressed up in some funny and fancy costumes. All it takes is a heaping helping of imagination…and the right Mouseketools.

THE TRAILER

About Disney’s Exclusive Mickey Mote:

Disney’s Mickey Mote works with any Disney Preschool DVD that includes the Discovery Mode™ feature – an interactive “Watch & Play” feature on the DVD. All parents have to do is program the remote control - there’s an easy and quick set-up guide in each DVD- and select the Discovery Mode feature on the menu screen. Within minutes, kids will be easily responding to questions, throughout the story, about scenes they just watched by pressing one of four color-coded buttons on the device -- a yellow star, green circle, orange triangle or blue square – to click in their responses. Discovery Mode features include two levels of play, which provides more challenging questions as the child grows.

The Mickey Mote can be used with any Disney Preschool DVD that includes the Discovery Mode feature.

To date there are more than 11 titles that can be used with the remote control, just take a look at the backof the package to make sure.

REVIEW

To get straight to the point, my boys and I give it a 5 out of 5.

This is more than just an average DVD. The Mickey Mote that allows your child to watch and play along with the Disney characters!! They get to answer fun questions about colors, shapes, and sized in mode I and then move on to a higher level of play in Mode II. Your child can also enjoy the DVD straight through without using the Mickey Mote.

My boys are 2 1/2 and 7 and are both Mickey fans. They've watched and played along with the DVD every day since the day we received it in the mail. It's a big hit!

I found setting up the Mickey mote to be very easy...even though I fudged it up a bit the first time, I was able to go back and easily correct my mistake by following the instructions from the beginning. Disney offers 11 other titles that can be used with the Mickey Mote.

Disclosure: I received a free copy of the DVD to review. The opinions are 100% mine (and my boys').

Club Penguin Game Day | Disney Interactive Studios

Someone is bouncing off the wall with excitement because Club Penguin Game Day has arrived at our house! Not only does Donovan (my soon to be 7 year old) get to play for hours on end, he also gets to help me review the game here on my blog.

Club Penguin Game Day, released in Sept 2010, is a series of party games for the Wii and Nintendo DS based on Disney's popular online game, Club Penguin. The game can be played in single player mode or with up to 4 people at a time. Players are able to customize their penguins and compete in challenges such as Java Sack, Bean Balance, Fast Freeze, Sled & Slide and Sumo Smash. Players attempt to conquer as much territory as possible and are rewarded by earning coins and other items as well as unlocking other challenges.

What I like most about this game (and other Disney Interactive Studio games) is its easy start up. Playing was as simple as putting the game in the console, creating a character, and chosing a challenge. Each challenge has a "learn" button. Click on it and the instructions are broken down into 4 basic steps. Some challenges include "advanced" instructions for more in depth play.

Donovan liked playing the games because "they're fun". I asked him which challenge was his favorite and his response was "every single game".

Disclosure: I received a copy of this game for review. The opinions here are 100% mine and my son Donovan's, who's the video game "expert" in our house.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Disney Holiday Event

I've had so many projects to post recently, that I have yet to have a chance to tell you all about the wonderful time the boys and I had at Disney's Holiday Event last month. There were a few stations set up around the room for families to visit. Being a scrapbooking mom, you can imagine that my boys were instantly drawn to the arts and crafts tables. They had a chance to paint a canvas, make Christmas ornaments, and even decorate cookies...which barely made it home in one piece as they were devoured by my little cookie monsters!

Then Donovan realized that there were 5 plasma TVs, each with a different interactive Disney game hooked up to it. Each of the games were released in November 2010. Disney Party Hits was one of the faves. It's a karaoke style game that takes things a step further because there's a vocal training option which helps you practice in order to get a better score. Once you are ready to play, there are a list of songs featuring Disney's singing stars to choose from. Donovan's favorite song is "It's On" from Camp Rock. Even 2 year old Xander got in on the act! He loves "Boom Boom Pow".

Donovan's ultimate #1 fave was this game...

I couldn't pry him off of it!! LOL! Here he is showing Sunny some of his awesome dance moves. The great thing about these games is that they 1. are easy to use...it's as simple as putting the disc in the Wii and 2. they get the kids moving! By the time I was able to convince Donovan that it was time to go (we had parent teacher conference that same night) he had worked up a serious sweat and was out of breath, but love every second of it! On our way back to New Jersey, I couldn't help but smile as his eyes lit up every time he talked about playing this game!

He still keeps reminding me that we have to put it on his Christmas list!

Disclosure: I received a gift bag with 2 video games as I left the event. All opinions are 100% my own.

Testing The Ice Book Review And Giveaway

In the early 1950s, legendary baseball hero Jackie Robinson literally "tested the ice" for his kids who so eagerly wanted to skate on the frozen lake near their home. Under Sharon Robinson's skillful authorship and Kadir Nelson's vivid illustrations, TESTING THE ICE also becomes a stunning metaphor for her father's remarkable racial breakthrough.
------------------------------------------------------------
I was so excited when I was contacted by Big Honcho Media to review Scholastic's new book, Testing The Ice. We are avid readers and love books in our home, so this opportunity was very welcomed!

I'll admit when I first opened the package, I did the one thing they say you're not supposed to do about "books"...I judged it by it's cover. Or better yet, the size of it's cover. I thought "this is one big book, I don't know if Donovan (age 5 1/2) is going to sit through this story in one sitting".

When I opened the book, I noticed the large writing and thought it was perfect for little eyes to read along with. I was truly amazed by the phenomenal artwork which was inspired by Jackie Robinson's actual photographs.

Donovan and I sat and had fun reading the book...he loved it! It wasn't nearly as long as I'd thought and as a parent I can appreciate the fact that the book is not only a lesson in bravery, but also a wonderful lesson in history. Don't just take my word for it, check it out for yourself!

Shower Yourself Beautiful Giveaway

Thanks to MomSelect, I've been given the opportunity to review a few products from Suave. I jumped at the opportunity because I love this brand; Suave products are truly a staple in my household. They are very reasonably priced and you get a good quantity for the amount that you pay, which is excellent, especially in this economy.

Every morning after showering, I liberally apply cocoa butter with shea moisturizer to my skin. This is one of my favorite toiletries because it smells delicious (cocoa butter and coconut are my signature scents) , it leaves my skin feeling pampered and it really gets the job done. I put it on in the morning and I don't have to worry about my elbows looking like they've been dipped in flour by 2:00 in the afternoon.

During the winter months, I switch over to Suave Advance Therapy moisturizer. This is excellent for soothing away those winter itchies that both my son and I suffer with. I just apply it liberally and within days, my skin feels smooth again.

I was very excited to try the body wash. Suave Naturals Refreshing Body Wash Ocean Breeze reminded my of sitting on a beach in the tropics...one of my favorite places in the world. The exfoliating Apricot body wash has beads in it to help gently cleanse my skin and left it feeling silky smooth upon rinsing. I'll admit, I was a little leery about trying the new Suave Naturals Wild Cherry Blossom Indulgent Body Wash because of the flower on the front of the bottle. Floral scents just don't sit well with me, but this one turned out to be my favorite of all! It has more of a sweet, fruity aroma that I completely fell in love with. It would be awesome if this scent was offered in a body lotion as well!

Overall, I was very impressed with the fact that Suave offers great quality products at such a reasonable price, they all smell great and left me feeling pampered!

Suave would like to shower one of my lucky blog readers with a few body products (12 oz body wash and 18 oz moisturizer).

Here's how to enter:
