"Impressed" With Ink

Hey there, I'm back with another Quick Quotes post.    This month, the DT is creating projects featuring PowderPuff Chalking Inks.   I created a faux letterpress look on my card by inking the raised part of an embossing folder with Pink Cheeks PowderPuff Chalking Inks

I placed my cardstock (the side that would face outward) over the inked raised side of the embossing folder.

I ran it through my cuttlebug and voila-- I'm left with an inked debossed print.   This is a very easy technique and the result is fabulous.  The possibilities are endless, too!  Try different colors and patterns to personalize any project.

VELLUM TIP:  make your vellum quote pop against any background by adhering it to a piece of white paper before attaching to your project.

Monday, Monday

Good day blog readers!

Every once in a while, I come across a photo that really speaks to me and I just HAVE to scrap it. In this case, the photo belongs to my friend Dolores. The picture is of her and her 3 daughters and she uses it as her facebook profile photo. I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it!

I pulled out some very "girl friendly" Cheery Lynn Designs dies and Authentique Blissful collection and went to work creating a layout that was as pretty as those 4 smiling faces!!

I started by creating a few pleated flowers to draw attention to the photo. This one was created using the Frills and Hearts border. I also die cut a few Darling Daisies, Exotic Butterflies and Fanciful Flourish from cardstock and added them throughout the layout.

School Days Font finishes off the title to complete the layout.

I created this "Thinking of You" card using the same line from Authentique. Both the card and the layout are store samples and will be on display at The Crop Shop (Rockland, Ma).

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today!!

Quick Cheery Lynn Designs Post

Just a quick post to share a couple of Cheery Lynn Designs projects.

I created this layout using Creative Imaginations Beach Cottage Collection and one of the April photos that I took for the 52 Week Project and a sketch that I found on My Little Shoebox's blog. I used CLD's Floral Hearts die, Dimensional Butterflies Bundles, Scalloped Diamonds Border, Little Stackers Scalloped Circles, XL Nesting Stackers Coved Rectangles, and XL Classic Circles Nesting Stackers.

The layering dies are wonderful and so easy to used. I didn't want to use the entire Floral Heart die, so I simply cut small strips of paper, taped them to the portion of the die that I wanted cut (in this case, the flowers) and ran it through my cuttlebug.

I layered several different size circles, a border, and the dimensional butterflies to add interest to the center of the layout.

Just look at the amount of detail there is in the dimensional butterflies. They make me want to reach out and touch each one.

This card was created using Bella Blvd's Socialite Collection and collection andCLD's

Frills and Hearts Border, French Flair - Classic LG Stackers Nesting Dies, Little Stackers French Flair, and Dimensional Buttons 2 die

New Shimmerz Colors

Today Shimmerz is celebrating the release of our 4 newest products: Tickle Me Turquoise Shimmerz, Jilted Jade Shimmerz, Island Salsa Blingz, and Caribbean Sunset Spritz!!!
One of the things that I love about shimmerz is that I can give my projects that "WOW factor" no matter how much (or little) product I apply.

For my first layout, I added just a touch of the new jilted jade to the upper and lower left corners because they looked a little blah to me. Just a few tiny brush strokes enhanced the distressed look and satisfied my need to spice up the layout. I also added jilted jade to the green swirly sticker to give it a little shine!

This next layout was created as a part 2 to this LO. I took the photo on the original when I was 9 months pregnant with Xander. I took the photo seen here when he was nine months old, hence the title 9 months later. (quirky, I know, but I have a thing with numbers)

I went all out and made this one shimmerlicious! First I used chipboard hearts as masks as I spritzed patterned paper with the new Caribbean Sunset Spritz. Next I painted some of the hearts with Tickle Me Turquoise Shimmerz which by the way, has become my favorite color! I also swiped a few strokes of Tickle Me Turquoise Shimmerz along the edge of the layout and completely covered the blue flower...it's really shiny in person!

I painted the row of chipboard hearts with Island Salsa Blingz. The "orangish" color actually lightened the dark red chipboard and made it a better match for the layout.

Because I love shimmerz so much, I tossed in a few existing products. I sprayed the red flower with Barn Yard spritz, and the ribbon with Baby's Breath spritz, then painted the black flower with Pixie Dust Blingz.

There are just so many different uses for Shimmerz...just pick up one (or 10) and give it a whirl, you can't mess it up!

Check out Shimmerz's blog Everyone who leaves a comment AND places an order (no minimum amount) will be entered into a drawing for $25.00 in Shimmerz products...it's good for products of your choice!!
