Birthday Present Card - Quick Quotes

Tanisha here with yet another project featuring Just Because.  I used one of the vellum quotes from the Itty Bitty Box (Babies/Family) and a present from the Birthday Gift 8x10 Chipboard set to create a beautiful embellishment that makes this card pop!

I inked the chipboard piece with Marachino Cherry PowderPuff Chalking Ink, then coated it with glossy accents and micro beads and allowed to dry.  I adhered the vellum quote to JB200 and then adhered it behind the present.  I finished off the present with a button, twine, and a tiny tag.

Here's a close up of the present.

Thanks for stopping by... I hope you have enjoyed all of the inspiration posted thus far!!

12x12 Canvas

Hey there blog readers, I'm here with another project featuring one of the new lines, Just Because and QQ's 12x12 canvas.

Canvas is one of my favorite mediums, so needless to say, I had a ball with this!!  Creating the frame around the edge was really easy, but takes a little patience.

I started by randomly tearing all 4 edges off of a scrap piece of 12x12 paper. (final size was about 10.5 square give or take) I used repositionable adhesive to adhere the scrap paper to the center of the canvas. Next, I used 2 different stamps and embossing ink to stamp on the exposed canvas, 1 side at a time. Once I finished one side, I poured WOW Embossing Powder in Opaque Bright White on the image and then tapped off the excess. Once all 4 sides were coated, I removed the scrap paper and  used a heat gun to melt the powder.
I then used an inking sponge and Quick Quote's PowderPuff Chalking Inks in Baja Blue, Mocha Mama, and Green With Envy to add color to the edges.  I re-adhered the scrap paper to the center and continued to add ink until I was satisfied with the look.  (the frame took on the shape of the scrap paper)
I used a damp paper towel to remove the excess ink from the embossing.  The embossing acts as a resist and you will see all of the different inks in the recesses.  This is one of my favorite techniques.
I lightly spritzed the center with misting inks in 2 different colors before adding photos and embellishments to the canvas.  I matted the photo using JB-400 and then framed it with images cut from JB-100 and JB-400.  I cut strips from the new vellum strips to serve as part of my title and journaling.

I added the hot air balloon from the 8x10 Chipboard Balloon set.

I added texture to the hand cut items using buttons and twine.

Thanks for stopping by today.   More great projects are coming up, so check back soon!!

New From Quick Quotes

Hey everyone!!  I am here with an "out of the box" layout featuring Quick Quote's new paper line, Just Because.

Don't you just love it when you spot a beautiful line and you get a lot of ideas at first glance, but the more you look at it you are inundated with an entirely different set of ideas??  Well that's exactly what happened to me when I received Just Because in my DT box.  At first sight, I saw flowers, butterflies, and polka dots...all the makings of a beautiful girly or Spring layout.  The more I studied it, I began to notice the blues and greens and the grungy look it had and began to think of boy and Fall layouts.  This collection is the epitome of versatile!!

Here's what I created with this line.  I pulled the brown (JB 300)  from the layout and used the green (JB 200) to help the photos pop.  I tied the two together with the JB 100.  I added a vellum quote from the new Itty Bitty Box to help finish it off.

Thank you for stopping by today!!  Have a scrappy day!!

QQ Card

Don't you just love it when you can take a piece of a pre-made scrapbooking item and make it your own?   That's exactly what I did with this piece of vellum from Quick Quotes.  I cut the revelevant paragraph from it, adhered it to a piece of patterned paper from the One Fine Day collection and created this beautiful card.  I added a couple of naked chipboard pieces from the Bag O Chips Stackable Flowers for a little neutral balance.

One Fine Day To Play

Hey there, Tanisha here with a cute layout that I made in just minutes.  Sometimes I run short on time and find that it's difficult to labor over a page.  In those cases, I rely heavily on using quick and easy techniques to get a page done so I can move on to completing the million other things on my to-do list.
I used One Fine Day to draw muted shades of colors from the photo.  I cut the clock from vellum to help carry the theme of the layout and then added a little depth by inking the edges of the photo mat and added a little texture by using buttons and felt alphabet.

Cute right?  See, quick and simple doesn't have to be plain and boring!!

What's one of the first things that you think of when you think about Dad? Tools, right?! Just about every man I know has had to "tinker" with something...even my husband, who is not the handiest person in the world.  (Sorry babe, you have lots of other talents though)  So for Quick Quote's Father Inspiration I created this handy dandy tool box.

I started by painting the inside and then lightly inking it with Mocha Mama PowderPuff Chalking Ink.  I used mod podge to cover the body of the tool box with Tin Type 300 and inked the edges.

I inked chipboard alpha using Blue Hawaiian PowderPuff Chalking Ink and Mocha Mama Powedr Puff Chalking Ink.

Thanks for stopping by today!  Hope that special father in your life has a wonderful Father's Day!

QQ Journey Post

I'm here sharing nothera Quick Quotes post with you. I created this little mini album in preparation for my vacation.  I covered it with papers from Tin Type and inked the edges with PowderPuff Chalking Ink in Mocha Momma, so all I have to do is add photos and journaling!

I just one of the journaling blocks from Tin Type 500, inked the edges and layered it on the cover.  I cut the straps from Treasure Chest Vellum Overlay, adhered them to white cardstock strips and then to the cover.

I created this embellishment using the Bag O' Chips stackable flower pieces.  I inked each piece with Mango Mai Tai PowderPuff Chalking Ink and the edged with Mocha Momma PowderPuff Chalking Ink, then sporadically heat embossed with WOW embossing Powder.   I added a star brad to the center of the top piece and then adhered the layers with pop dots.

Here's a peek at the inside

Birds Of A Feather

Happy Saturday!! I'm so psyched about the holiday weekend for the fact that I get a few days off from work! Phew, sometimes you just need a break!  Right?  Hopefully a long weekend equates to some much needed scrap time.

Today, I have a couple of projects that I created for Creative Imaginations using Debbie Mumm's gorgeous Song Birds Collection. This is one of those lines that I fall more and more in love with every time I look at it. It's filled with adorable little treasures like the tiny peach flowers in the die cut pack to the clever little phrases that inspired the title for my layout.

I started my layout by layering patterned papers, cardstock, and a border punched strip of wood to create the background. I lightly spritzed the lightest part of the background with Luminarte Butternut Radiant Rain Shimmering Mist.

Since this line has a lot of nature elements, I added flowers, a berry spray, and jute to add to textural interest.  I also layered a couple of birds that I fussy cut from patterned paper on top of a cardboard house from Basically Bare.

I used a paint brush and Luminarte Butternut Radiant Rain Shimmering Mist to paint the chipboard photo corners.

I used the design of the layout and some of the same elelements to create a frame.

Here are some close ups of the details.

Debbie Mumm Song Birds
Petaloo (flowers and berry spray); Buzz and Bloom (chipboard photo corners); Basically Bare (Cardboard House); Quick Quotes (ink)

"Impressed" With Ink

Hey there, I'm back with another Quick Quotes post.    This month, the DT is creating projects featuring PowderPuff Chalking Inks.   I created a faux letterpress look on my card by inking the raised part of an embossing folder with Pink Cheeks PowderPuff Chalking Inks

I placed my cardstock (the side that would face outward) over the inked raised side of the embossing folder.

I ran it through my cuttlebug and voila-- I'm left with an inked debossed print.   This is a very easy technique and the result is fabulous.  The possibilities are endless, too!  Try different colors and patterns to personalize any project.

VELLUM TIP:  make your vellum quote pop against any background by adhering it to a piece of white paper before attaching to your project.

Mommy and Me

Hey there blog readers, I'm here with a blog post featuring none other than mom.  Mother's Day was a couple days ago.  Did you have a good day?  I did, although it was pretty low key.
I created this layout for Quick Quotes to serve as a thank you letter to my mom.  Having such a close relationship with her has given me the ability to cultivate great relationships with other women.  In essence, I have her to thank for all of the beautiful friendships that I have made and maintained over the years.

This month, the Quick Quotes are not only focusing on Mother's Day projects, were are also focusing on the PowderPuff Chalking Inks.  I love the subtle dimension that inking creates.  I used Tahiti here to ink the edge of the vellum quote.  I used Bloody Mary on the patterned paper covered chipboard.

Inking doesn't have to be tone on tone.  As you can see here, I embossed the butterfly with white powder and then inked the edges with Tahiti to add a pop of color.

Quick Quotes Products:
Summer Samba 400
PowderPuff Chalk Ink: Bloody Mary, Tahiti

I created a couple of Mother's Day cards for the Purple Cows blog using a couple of the new CraftGeek punches.  To see full instructions and details, check out the blog.

I actually ended up giving this one to my mom on Mother's Day.  She loved it!!

That's all for now,
