Fit For A Queen

I know I've said this before, but Pink Paislee is one of my favorite companies out there. I couldn't wait to get my hands on the new releases and almost jumped for joy when I walked into my local scrapbook store Thursday to find PP's Queen Bee line sitting ever so regally on the shelves!

As soon as I brought these beautiful papers home, I went to work creating, starting with this Mother's Day gift set featuring Petaloo's mulberry flowers and velvet butterflies. Doesn't the color really pop against the papers?

These flowers are so incredibly gorgeous and super easy to work with. I spritzed the flowers and butterfly with gold glow smooch spritz and then coated the centers and tips of the large wild roses with stardust stickles. I wish you could see these in person!

Not only am I in a card making state of mind, but I've also been making handmade flowers alot lately, too.
I can't believe how easy it is to make these darling little roses!! I lightly spritzed them with silver glimmer mist for just the right hint of bling...the person receiving this card would probably think I spent hours laboring over it.

One of my favorite ways to create a quick and inexpensive sentiment for my cards is to write it out on paper and then cut around it. It gives my handwriting a "stamped" look.

Remember the shaped scissors that we were so crazy about a few years ago? Well I saved the few that I had and put the mini scallop to use here. I adhered the die cut tag to white cardstock and then trimmed around with the shaped scissors.

I also changed the color of the ribbon with just a few squirts of silver glimmer mist.

I used punched butterflies and glimmer mist to create the masked look seen here. Not only did I get a cool looking background, but I also saved the butterflies to use on other projects (I used 2 of them here).

I layered 6 punched flowers and cut a few flowers from patterned paper to create this cute bundle here. I stamped 3 of the punched flowers with my favorite french script stamp and spritzed the other 3 with silver glimmer mist.

I added distressed and stardust stickles to the centers to finish them off.

All of the cards in this post, except the "Friend" card, are scraplifts of some of my fave cards that I previously created. I love how the different papers give the cards a different look although the design is similar.

I hope you've enjoyed this post...happy scrapping!

Want to know what will make me even happier? Getting the opportunity to see some of my online scrappy buddies on that cruise!! Robots Un-plugged

This new line from My Little Shoebox could not be any cuter! I adore the fact that the papers are so versatile and can be used for both boy and girl pages. And those robot cutouts...LOVE them! I dressed one of the pink ones with eyelashes and a bow for the front cover of this mini album that I'm teaching next month at Scrapper's Cove. I added some brads and highlighted some of the features with stardust stickles to help make it my own and add some extra texture.

Here's the class information:

The photo on this layout was just screaming to be scrapped. I took Xander and Donovan to the playground around the corner from the house one day...of course I try to stay armed with my camera and I captured this picture of my baby boy. Don't you just want to kiss that sweet face?

One of my favorite scrapping techniques is hand cutting. I love to make a piece of paper look differently than it did when I purchased it. This line is so perfect for that! Not only can you cut out the robots, but the numbers are big enough cutout as well. That's exactly what I did here!

I printed some additional photos from Donovan's mohawk photo shoot to use here...they were just too perfect for me not to. I freehand cut some circles from the star paper, added some doodling around the border for this quick and easy layout.

This card was so super easy to make and is just right for the little dudes in our lives!

Thanks for taking a peek!

DreamGirls Challenge #34 Using Shimmerz

DreamGirls challenge #34 is up! I have to say, I think this is one of my all time favorite challenges! I've created a few monochromatic layouts, but never and ALL WHITE one!

Here's the challenge:

Prompt: Create a monochromatic challenge using all white or cream

Technique: Stitching

Product: Lace

YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST CLICK HERE TO SEE WHAT THE OTHER DIVAS CAME UP WITH!

Not only was this my first all white layout, but only one of a few where I didn't use any patterned paper (GASP!) I've found that the secret to creating with all white is texture, texture, texture!!!

I started out by spraying an entire piece of texture American Crafts cardstock with Shimmerz Baby's Breath spritz and allowing to dry completely. I then took a 10x12 piece of glittery lace cardstock from Little Yellow Bicycle and adhered it to the cardstock with spray adhesive. I covered the seam with a piece of savvynsassy lace and then topped the lace with strips of tiny pearls. Next, I added pearls and clear rhinestones to the centers of the lace cardstock snowflakes to further add dimension to the layout.

I then added the title using a Heidi Swapp gems word and foam alphabet thickers from American Crafts. Since the rest of the layout is BLINGED OUT, I added stardust stickles to the thickers and then hand stitched a tiny halo above the "a" in "angel".

The final pièce de résistance is the adorable photo of my baby boy, Xander. I printed the photo on a transparency--no special technique behind this, I just ran out of photo paper (LOL). To continue with the snowflake theme, I cut the picture into a snowflake, adhered it to a piece of white cardstock, then trimmed it so there was a 1/8" border left. I mounted the photo using foam pop dots and then outlined with stardust stickles. Lastly, I added large rhinestones to the photo.

This layout is covered with so much bling, it'll make your eyes water--the photo doesn't do it justice.

Here, you can get a better idea of how much texture I created

Close up of the photo-- I sprayed the back of the transparency with spray adhesive and it created a "grainy" look to the photo...love that!

Here's a sneak peek of a layout that I'm teaching next month. I took a little hiatus and am now getting back in the classroom!

New Layout and Class Project

I couldn't wait to use these gorgeous pink and grey papers from Heidi Swapp's new Love Notes line. Oh my gosh, they are so pretty! I added in a few coordinating papers from Bo Bunny to complete the look.

This is our latest family portrait, I say that like we've taken many! The one and only other family portrait of us was taken when Donovan was 6 months old! LOL!

Jenny was the Pink Lady of the Month this month at Scrap-Diner.com. We all show her how awesome we think she is by lifting one of her projects. I chose to lift this one. I kept the design pretty much the same, I just made my elements bigger so I could show off more of these papers!

Here's a little sneaky teasey of my Dream Girls Challenge Blog LO coming soon.

And lastly, I'll be teaching this layout featuring Pink Paislee Enchanting line next month (May 23rd) at Scrapper's Cove.

Oh and by mid next month, I'll have something exciting to share...let's just say it has something to do with a box of pure gorgeousness that was delivered to my doorstep the other day!!! :insert happy dance and evil snicker: LOL!

TFL!
