I Heart Faces "Paper"

This week's theme at I Heart Faces is "Paper". I took this photo of Donovan on the day of his preschool graduation. He and his classmates were acting out the 3 little pigs. He played the Big Bad Wolf and I just love how he looks meaner than the wolf he's holding! That's my Donovan!!

Thanks for stopping by the blog today!!

Wish List

With Thanksgiving only a week away, I can finally wrap my mind around the fact that Christmas, and inevitably the end of the year is upon us. All around me people are making lists and checking them twice...

Well, I came up with a little list of my own. It's a wish list of things that I would like to have at some point...not so much for Christmas, 'cause let's face it, money's tight right now and I seem to have champagne taste with spigot water money. LOL!

But let's just say if Santa hit the lottery and felt a little extra giving this year...I need to put my list out there in the cyber-verse 'cause you never know what'll happen...right.

Pewter Camera Bag from Jototes (notice how this is at the top of the list *wink wink, nudge nudge. All the rest are in no particular order)
Carbon Fiber Tripod

Rachael Ray's Look + Cook

Oval Stock Pot

Canon 1D Mark IV

J'adore has been one of my fave scents for a while now

Canon 24-105 mm f/4 L

Binding Wire for The Cinch

Rachael Ray's Knife Set
As you can see I'm into photography and I love some Rachael Ray (big fan)!! My plan this year is to try and add different recipes to my repertoire so I can stop cooking the same things over and over again.

What are you hoping to find in your stocking this year?

Happy Monday

In less than 2 weeks, I will be sitting back, chilling with my family, and stuffing my face with some gooooooood homemade food. I can not wait for Thanksgiving!! My sister and I have taken over the cooking in our family, so we're in the process of getting the menu together--well in reality, we usually cook the same traditional feast, but we have to divvy up the tasks.

I have to make sure to remember to get photos this year. I'm always so caught up in the hooplah, that I forget to take the camera out.

I have a few projects to share with you today. The first 2 were created for Petaloo. Remember these photos that I took at the butterfly farm in St. Martin? Well, I've finally gotten around to scrapping them. I combined papers from Pink Paislee and Webster's Pages to create a neutral background that allows the photos to pop. Then I added a few dazzlers for a touch of color.

I used Jenni Bowlin papers and brown berry picks from the Canterbury Collection on this card.

This last project was created for gonescrapbooking/examiner.com. I used Echo Park's adorable Halloween line along with that super cute spider sticker from Reminisce to create this card. Is this cute or what?

I'm also thrilled to announce that I made the Design Team for Cheery Lynn Designs!!! So stay tuned for lots of inspiring projects using their dies!

Thanks for stopping by the blog today!! Have a wonderful day!

30 Days of Thankfulness (Days 8-14)

This is the 2nd series in my 30 Days of Thankfulness posts.

Today I am thankful for:

Day 8 Panera Bread's delicious creamy tomato soup with a French baguette on the side. It was cold and raining/sleeting today and this really hit the spot!

Day 9 my laptop because it allows me to stay in touch with my cyber-verse

Day 10 modern medicine

Day 11 my freedom

Day 12 my dad...I think this is the first time I've ever said I've been thankful for him. I didn't know him very well, but he's always on my mind. I wish he were still alive so we'd have an opportunity to grow a better relationship. Despite the lack of participation in my life, I would not be here without him.

Day 13 for the opportunity to spend quality time with extended family members.

Day 14 days where I have the energy to really tackle my to do list, though today is NOT one of them!

Fall/Halloween Photos

We had a very busy Halloween weekend. The boys and I attended 3 parties the Friday before Halloween and went to a Fall festival and trick-or-treating with my sister and nephew on Sunday. Needless to say, we had fun!!!

I really scored with these Halloween costumes from Old Navy. The shark costume was $9.99 and the Superman costume cost a whopping $4.99! The boys have been wearing them since a week before Halloween and Xander still wears his!! Definitely getting my money's worth!

Of course, I had to get in on the act, too! I'm just a big kid at heart and Halloween really brings it out in me!!

I took the boys to a local garden center the weekend before. We went on a real hayride! No bales of hay for us, nope...the wagon was filled with loose hay for us to sit in. It was very messy, but they loved it! Donovan had a ball on the hay slide, AKA a very large dirt hill covered with hay. They roamed through a small corn maze and slung pumpkins into a field. We picked up a nice pumpkin to carve and then headed home.

These are a few of my favorite pictures from that day.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!! Have a wonderful week!!

I Heart Faces "Orange"

Before I get on with the I Heart Faces challenge, I wanted to post a reminder about the Disney Tangled giveaway that I have going on until the 24th of this month. Click here for details!!

It's been a while since I've posted a photo for an I Heart Faces challenge, but seeing as though the challenge this week was "orange" and Halloween just passed, I figured I had quite a few photos with the color orange in them.

I chose this one of my little pumpkin picker because there's just something about smiles where baby teeth and permanent teeth co-mingle that make smile. Kind of "jack-o-lantern-ish"...LOL!

Have a great day!!

30 Days of Thankfulness (Days 1-7)

There are so many things, big and small, that I have to be thankful for. Last year, I joined in on a challenge with an online forum and created daily posts about something that I was thankful for during the month of November. I've decided to do the same thing again this year and share my posts on a weekly basis.

This week, I am thankful for:

Day 1 Lynn, the best Zumba instructor ever...although I didn't make it to class this morning.

Day 2 my chiropractor for getting all of the kinks out and the ability to exercise my right to vote..

Day 3 unemployment; although it's not enough and a job would be greatly appreciated, it's better than nothing!

Day 4 spending an entire rainy, school's out Thursday in our pajamas.

Day 5 the extra ounce of patience that helped me deal with a "messy" situation. Let's just say potty training is a bitch!

Day 6 having a family dinner date with my guys and my in-laws and celebrating a friend's milestone birthday.

Day 7 getting that extra hour of rest, thanks to daylight savings time coming to an end.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you have much to be thankful for this week!

A Boy and A Girl Layout

One of the best things about creating for gonescrapbooking/examiner.com is the fact that I get to use anything in my stash and scrap any subject that I wish!! As you can see here, I scrapped a grungy boy layout and then turned around and created a very clean, girly layout.

This past June, I took the boys to $1 night at the New Jersey State Fair and I'm finally getting around to scrapping the pictures. The Bo Bunny papers that I used on this layout really inspired the grungy look. I added some Luminarte Shimmering Spray and acrylic paint that I watered down to create the background. I even dug deep in my stash and pulled out some foam thickers. I gave them an updated look by coating them with stickles (distressed and regular). I love the texture it added.

Journaling:

We had so much fun @ the fair.
  • Xander ate cheese fries & rode down the slide w/ me.
  • Donovan won his panda bear all by himself.
  • The boys ate funnel cake for the 1st time and loved it!
  • Donovan rode the bumper cars by himself
  • Xander cried to get on the big rides, but he was too small.

Having 2 boys, I rarely get to create little girl pages. My friend Dolores was kind enough to email me some pictures of her adorable little girl, Elisa, so I wouldn't have this problem anymore. Is she a doll or what? Thanks Dee!!

How perfectly does these new papers from My Little Shoebox compliment this photo of Elisa. The little girl die cut even has on a yellow shirt and pink embellishment in her brown hair, just like Elisa does. Love it when things come together so cohesively.

Thanks to my friend sweet Erin for hooking me up with these papers!! I couldn't wait to try them out!!

journaling: Elisa is such a li'l sweetie pie. Not only is she a sweetheart, she's fun to be around and full of spunk!

Here are close-ups of the details.

I really adore the mini pennant banners! I used Bella Blvd coin alpha on one to finish off the title.

I layered a few Petaloo flowers and punched a few butterflies from transparencies and patterned paper for an extra girly touch.

Thanks for stopping by today!! I really appreciate all of you and your wonderful comments!! Have a great day!!

Until next post...
