A Boy and A Girl Layout

One of the best things about creating for gonescrapbooking/examiner.com is the fact that I get to use anything in my stash and scrap any subject that I wish!! As you can see here, I scrapped a grungy boy layout and then turned around and created a very clean, girly layout.

This past June, I took the boys to $1 night at the New Jersey State Fair and I'm finally getting around to scrapping the pictures. The Bo Bunny papers that I used on this layout really inspired the grungy look. I added some Luminarte Shimmering Spray and acrylic paint that I watered down to create the background. I even dug deep in my stash and pulled out some foam thickers. I gave them an updated look by coating them with stickles (distressed and regular). I love the texture it added.

Journaling:

We had so much fun @ the fair.
  • Xander ate cheese fries & rode down the slide w/ me.
  • Donovan won his panda bear all by himself.
  • The boys ate funnel cake for the 1st time and loved it!
  • Donovan rode the bumper cars by himself
  • Xander cried to get on the big rides, but he was too small.

Having 2 boys, I rarely get to create little girl pages. My friend Dolores was kind enough to email me some pictures of her adorable little girl, Elisa, so I wouldn't have this problem anymore. Is she a doll or what? Thanks Dee!!

How perfectly does these new papers from My Little Shoebox compliment this photo of Elisa. The little girl die cut even has on a yellow shirt and pink embellishment in her brown hair, just like Elisa does. Love it when things come together so cohesively.

Thanks to my friend sweet Erin for hooking me up with these papers!! I couldn't wait to try them out!!

journaling: Elisa is such a li'l sweetie pie. Not only is she a sweetheart, she's fun to be around and full of spunk!

Here are close-ups of the details.

I really adore the mini pennant banners! I used Bella Blvd coin alpha on one to finish off the title.

I layered a few Petaloo flowers and punched a few butterflies from transparencies and patterned paper for an extra girly touch.

Thanks for stopping by today!! I really appreciate all of you and your wonderful comments!! Have a great day!!

Until next post...

And The Winner Is...

First, I just want to say thanks to everyone who participated in our Farewell Blog Hop. As I stated in yesterday's post, it was a sad decision for me not to reapply for the design team, but I know the new team is gonna rock it out!!

Secondly, here is my final My Little Shoebox project...as a DT member. I actually taught this mini album at the Collin's Show earlier this Spring. I used Flying High along with some of my favorite family photos to create this album, one of my faves to date!

I had some awesome companies (posted here) donate product for this class!!

I used 2 die cut photo corners and a piece of ribbon to fashion a butterfly

I adhered a piece of lined paper to the die cut, punched holes in it and then added journaling to the back--the tag is actually it's own page.

I matted a heart and then added wings (2 more photo corners) to help bring the sentiment to life.

See the white butterfly on the right page? I punched it out of the transparency overlay with my Martha Stewart butterfly punch.

I created a pocket for journaling tags using 1/4 of the scalloped circle paper

The END...

Oh yeah, you want to know which lucky blog poster won my RAK, right!?! LOL!

Well that person is.....

And The Project Posts Continue...

I love a good sketch! It's a little blueprint to allows for limitless possibilities.

This week, My Little Shoebox teamed up with Pencillines to create layouts based on sketch #191.

I flipped the sketch 90 degrees and created this layout about my boys using MLS Robots Un-Plugged and the "B" sides of Li'l Critter. added a few Petaloo Dahlias in the same monochromatic tones to highlight the photo of Xan and Donnie walking in the park.

Check out what the rest of the team created with the sketch.

This next layout was created using Buzz & Bloom's chipboard and acrylic alpha. I found some super cute spaceship clipart HERE and used them to created my own paper piercings.

Finally, a project created for Creative Imaginations. I used the Melange line, 1 2 3 Celebrate Me and a Bare Elements Aaron Box to create this quick and easy birthday gift set.

All of the projects in this post were created using adhesives from Helmar: Quick Fix Permanent Adhesive Runner, 450 Quick Dry Adhesive; Premium Craft Glue, Zapdots

Until next post...happy scrapping!

Inspirational Mini Album

How lucky are My Little Shoebox Design Team members? This month, in addition to playing with MLS's super cute, whimsical papers, we had the opportunity to swap products with tattered angels AND Punky Sprouts!!!

I created this mini album using My Little Shoebox All A Flutter and Punky Sprouts Punky Posh mini album. When I first received this album, I was so excited about all of the possibilities swimming around in my head but I ended up turning it into a book of quotes because I couldn't find my external hard drive, thus my photos, in the hurricane aftermath that is my scrap room.

I did eventually find it...AFTER I finished the album. I guess it's time for me to clean it up again because there's no telling what else is lost down there. LOL!

I used some Petaloo flowers to decorate the front cover and inside covers.

I stitched around the edges of the canvas pages and the frayed the for a distressed look. I love how awesome the glimmer mist looks on the canvas pages!

I used the following Helmar products to put this album together: Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive, Premium Craft Glue, and Helmar Quick Fix Permanent Adhesive Runner.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today! Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!!

All A Flutter | My Little Shoebox

Spring is here and the big beautiful butterflies from MLS - All A Flutter line are floating all across this layout of my handsome boys "posing" in the Easter outfits that Grandmom bought.

Tattered Angels was generous enough to donate product to our DT and I was more than happy to put it to good use!

The following are step by step directions for creating the "zebra striped" butterfly in the top left corner. I started with a sheet of white cardstock. Using a craft knife, I carefully cut a butterfly from the patterned paper and then placed it where I wanted it on the background.

Next, I spritzed Suede and Olive Vine glimmer mist on the cardstock, over the butterfly to create the resist seen here.

Next, I took the negative space from the butterfly that I cut out and trimmed a rub-on so that it was slightly bigger than the negative space. I used Hambly's wood grain rub-on here.

I placed the negative space butterfly over the resisted butterfly on the cardstock and then applied the rub-on on top of that.

This is is what the finished butterfly looks like. Finally, I outlined the butterfly with a Sakura red glaze pen.

Here's a quick card that I created from the All A Flutter line. It's hard to see from this photo, but I used a clear glaze pen on all of the polka dots on the flowers. I love how these glaze pens add dimension and shine to everything you apply them to! The sentiment was handwritten with a plain fine point marker and then taken over the top with a brown glaze pen.

We are so thankful to Love My Tapes and Sakura for sponsoring our design team!!

I used the adhesive runner and glazed pens on the projects in this post.

Thanks for stopping by,
